Waitangi (13)

Like most countries, there was a lot of early conflict between the indigenous people and the European settlers. The Treaty of Waitangi was supposed to have sorted all that out and made New Zealanders one people. How successful it has been is debatable. The treaty was signed at Waitangi which was the next place we visited. This shows the flagpole there, flying the British and the original New Zealand flags.
