Flight into Wellington

Whenever I fly anywhere (which isn't often enough, unfortunately) I try to get a window seat so I can take photos of anything interesting I see. This one looks west near sunset while flying into Wellington on a flight from Dunedin on an A320.

The colours here are quite intense, from strong re-orange near the horizon, up through yellow and into a deep purple-blue further up the sky. The tricky part about these photos is to get the camera close to the window to avoid reflections, and to get a good focus on the subject instead of the window or wing.
