Su-31 World War 1 LA-9 Air Force Jets Attack More (Up to OJB's Warbirds Page) |
Warbirds Over Wanaka, 2004This is my report on the Warbirds Over Wanaka Airshow for 2004. Of course, there was a lot more happening that what I have listed below. I have just chosen six areas that interested me. I attended this on Sunday 11 April and arrived slightly late after driving 300 kms from Dunedin. It was worth it though, and the weather turned out fine again! |
World War 1This Bristol F2b Fighter was joined by an Avro 504K, a Fokker Triplane and a Sopwith Camel to represent World War 1 era aircraft at the show. |
The LA-9This is a truly unique aircraft, the only flying example of the Russian Lachochkin LA-9 fighter left in the world. |
Royal New Zealand Air ForceThe RNZAF showed off one of their new Boeing 757s as well as other larger transport aircraft they have used for years - the Orion and C-130 Hercules. |
JetsMore modern jet powered warbirds included the de Havilland Vampire, the Cessna A-37 Dragonfly and the L-39 Albatross from the Czech Republic. |
AttackThe traditional attack on the airfield by the enemy aircraft from Luggate - the myth is they plan the attack from the pub in the small nearby village called Luggate! |
MoreThis section has some more photos and brief information about other aircraft flown at the 2004 air show. |
